About Me
With over 22 years of teaching experience, students appreciate me for my crystal-clear instruction, deep knowledge of yoga philosophy and biomechanics, and holistic approach to well-being. I blend various yoga traditions to design bio-mechanically sound, powerful, and sustainable classes that evolve with the physical and emotional needs of my students. My goal is to make yoga both accessible and transformative for practitioners of all levels.
Beyond the mat, I am a research scientist with a PhD in Epidemiology from Columbia University, leading NIH-funded studies in adolescent health and mindfulness interventions. My work allows me to integrate scientific insights with yoga philosophy, creating a practice that is both evidence-based and deeply rooted in tradition. As a certified health coach, I also guide individuals in cultivating balanced, healthy lifestyles through mindful movement, nutrition, and sustainable self-care.
As a full-time professional and mother of two teenagers, I understand the challenges of balancing a busy life while staying present and grounded. My teaching is especially appreciated by students who manage demanding schedules, and I strive to offer a sense of calm and connection through my classes.
I also lead international yoga retreats, providing students with the opportunity to step away from daily demands, immerse themselves in transformative experiences, and explore beautiful destinations around the world. These retreats create a supportive and enriching space to deepen practice and reconnect with oneself.
I live in Berkeley, California, with my husband, Mark, our daughters, Sayana and Rubi, and our beloved pets—cats Jasper and Ash, and our dog, Layla. When I’m not teaching or researching, I love gardening, baking (especially sourdough bread!), hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
I invite you to join me on the mat for a practice that is intelligent, sustainable, and deeply nourishing—on and off the mat.
